This year in the sixth grade we will cover many aspects of curriculum studies in Religion, Literature, and Grammar Mechanics, Writing skills, Spelling, Social Studies and Math. The students, additionally, will cover studies in special classes; such as, Science, the Fine Arts: Music and Art as well as, Physical Education and Spanish. The following guidelines, procedures and policies will assist you through out the school year. I am looking forward to a successful, academic enriching year.
topAbsences: If a student if absent he/she needs to bring a written note of excuse upon return to school.
For each day absent the student has time to make-up the assignments and tests
topBehavior and Discipline: Verbal Warning is given first. Should a student continue to display behavior which is not in accordance with the posted classroom rules a check mark is given for each infraction. When a student reaches 3 checks he/she is given a recess/ lunch recess detention and/or a pink slip as a consequence measure.

topCurriculum: The students for most of the school day are in a self-contained classroom environment. The morning schedule contains the core subjects: Religion, Math, Language Arts, Literature and Writing. In addition to the textbooks and supplemental materials, the curriculum will be enriched by participation in book reports, research projects, group projects, literature novels and field trips. Please refer to the Curriculum Map on the school website for more specifics and due dates.

topHomework: The students will have homework every night during the week. Homework is not given over the weekend unless the students need to work on such long term projects as; book reports, speeches or research projects. Advance due dates will be given to the student.
Agendas should be in class daily to write down assignments given throughout the day.
Please check periodically if your child is utilizing his/her agenda.

topSpecials: All parents must pick up their child from Linden Drive. If your child is not picked up by 3:15, they will be taken to after school care and signed in and you will be asked to pay an appropriate fee.
