3rd Grade Policies

Behavior: This year the class will write the “Classroom Rules” on the first day of school.  Each child will be expected to follow these rules.  Behavior is monitored on a color-coded chart and students who follow them will be rewarded by picking a prize at the end of the week.  If there appears to be any problems that I need your assistance with, I will send a note home with your child as a first warning. This will be followed by a Student Referral if the problem is not corrected. A mandatory parent meeting will follow a third infraction.

Homework: It is very important that your child come to class each day prepared with the correct supplies (see supply list on website) and homework completed.  All homework will be recorded daily in the student agenda.  There should always be something written down, even if it is “NO HOMEWORK.”  Please check the agenda and sign it.  This is part of your child’s daily homework.   In third grade we stress the importance of resp0sibility and consequences.  Therefore, the homework policy is a little more stringent than before in the earlier grades.  A student is allowed to miss 3 assignments before I am required to send a Student Referral home.  Three referrals results in a detention and a meeting with the parent and student.  If you have a family emergency, your child will be allowed to make up the missing homework the next day with out consequence.
